GREAT NEWS! We walked into the NICU today and were shocked to see Cait without breathing tubes! She is off the nitric oxide, ventilator, and looking great. It was so nice to see her face without all the tubes. Cait has oxygen tubes running to her nose, but other than that she is breathing fine on her own.The doctor saw us walk in and came right over and had a big smile on her face. Doctor Mohan said she was doing extremely well and that her brain ultrasound had come back at a stable Level 3 with slight improvement in her arteries. We felt like jumping up and down, but settled for hugs with the doctor and nurses. What a huge improvement in just a week. We will definitely call this round in Cait's favor!
The nurses surprised us with a picture of Cait they took with all of her tubes and thing removed, and a note attached that said, "Look Mom, no tubes!" Cait is so funny, with her wrinkly skin and funny faces she makes. We were holding her hands through the incubator and she gave us a little cry. It was amazing to hear her, and see her taking breaths on her own. She is amazing and a strong little fighter...what a will she has. Eat your heart out ROCKY!

I remember that day for us...I had waited a LONG month to be able to finally hold my little girl, the very next day we went back to the hospital to see her and...ta da...she was off the vent!! It was a miracle! Sounds like you guys have a little miracle on your hands too!!
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome news on the brain bleed! My Teylor had a grade 4 on one side and a 5 on the other, I would have taken a 3 anyday, so hopefully that lifts your spirits!
